Artist Statement.

Tamera Olsen received her Bachelor of Fine Arts from the University of Montana in Missoula. She has been a dedicated supporter of local arts organizations for 30 years. During this time, Tamera has exhibited - including a Solo Show in 2009-2010, served on arts councils in executive roles, and has taught art through many avenues prior to obtaining her Bachelor of Education degree from the University of Calgary in 2018.

Tamera’s local environment has shaped her art practice. From growing up on the ocean to living at high altitude in the Rockies, to investigating water starved rural environments in the Southwest, and in contrast - living the island life in paradise, to urban environs, the coastal and inland rain forests of the Pacific Northwest, and to the great plains, her practice seeks to understand and engage with natural forces. To this end, Tamera spends considerable time in the outdoors, chasing sport and recreation as mindful pursuits.
